The Enriquillo fault line (Haiti) as shown by NASA in 2000

The data from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission that flew aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour in February 2000, shows the Enriquillo fault that research shows responsible for the Jan. 12 magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Port-au-Prince. The fault is almost directly in the center of the image (faint red circle on map). The fault runs a diagonal line down the base of the mountain and Port-au-Prince is immediately to the left or our north at the mountain base and shoreline. Click on picture for larger image.
