In response to the 29th year of incarceration of Puerto Rican Political Prisoner Oscar Lopez Rivera, the National Boricua Human Rights Network would like to announce the Freedom Walk. Two members of the NBHRN have committed themselves to take up the physical and mental challenge of walking over 238 miles in 10 days, from the United States Congress in Washington D.C. to the United Nations in New York City. The group will leave the Congress on May 19th at 9am and will arrive at the United Nations on May 29th at 5pm. The walk is part of an ongoing international campaign demanding the release of Puerto Rican Political Prisoners Oscar Lopez Rivera, Carlos Alberto Torres and Avelino Claudio Gonzales.
